Kendallville Chamber Launching Entrepreneur Summer Camp
The Kendallville Area Chamber of Commerce, Honey Pot Development, and Noble County Economic Development Corporation hope to bring a summer camp focused on entrepreneurship for high school and college students to Kendallville later this year.
After Kendallville Chamber of Commerce director Lynette Leamon, and Kristen Johnson from Honey Pot Development, pitched the idea this week to the Kendallville Economic Development Advisory Committee, they plan to discuss the idea with the Community Foundation of Noble County and East Noble High School staff.
The summer camp would be designed to teach young adults how to launch a business. Participants would be be provided mentoring to develop a business plan. Organizers also hope to incorporate a "Shark Tank" style pitch competition and award seed money for the best idea(s) pitched.
One goal of the such a program would be to help identify new businesses that could ultimately fill downtown vacancies long-term.
This program could also serve as a pilot program and be replicated throughout the county to help train and retain local talent and cncourage entrepreunership.
