Ligonier Wins $450k for Drainage Improvements

According to a news release from Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, Ligonier is one of 21 rural Hoosier communities that will receive more than $12.3 million in federal grant funding. The news was announced in early January.

Northeastern Center Breaks Ground - Two New Facilities

KENDALLVILLE — The Northeastern Center formally broke ground Friday for its new residential building, Promise Home, and new maintenance building at 1905 Dowling St. Ground preparation work is already underway at the site, but staff and community leaders donned hardhats and took golden shovels in hand for the ceremony, made brief by frozen ground, blustery wind and the 26-degree temperature.

Sherck retires from Noble County EDC

Rick Sherck, long-time Executive Director of the Noble County Economic Development Corporation (EDC), announced his retirement on December 19, 2019.

Rick led the Noble County EDC since its inception in 2007.  Bob Marshall, current Board President, thanked Rick for his years of service and noted “We did some really positive things during Rick’s tenure and we certainly wish him and his family nothing but the best going forward.” 

Albion Facade Grants Awarded

ALBION — The downtown area is getting some sprucing up, and at its meeting Nov. 26, the Albion Town Council helped pay for it.

Following positive recommendations from the Albion Redevelopment Commission, the council approved a trio of facade grants:

• The Albion Ale House received the maximum $10,000 in funding. Business owner Chad Stayner is putting in an outdoor deck/patio which could provide seating for up to 40 guests.
