IMPACT Students Advance to National SkillsUSA Competition

KENDALLVILLE — Students representing 13 area high schools and Impact Institute traveled to Indianapolis Saturday to compete in the State SkillsUSA Competition.

Of the 86 Impact students who competed, 33 placed in the top three in their competitions as individuals or teams and will advance to the National SkillsUSA Competition in Louisville, Kentucky, June 24-28.

Kendallville Chamber Launching Entrepreneur Summer Camp

The Kendallville Area Chamber of Commerce, Honey Pot Development, and Noble County Economic Development Corporation hope to bring a summer camp focused on entrepreneurship for high school and college students to Kendallville later this year.

Parkview Health Named on "America's Best" Lists by Forbes

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WOWO) – Parkview Health was named one of America’s Best Employers in Forbes magazine.

The America’s Best Employers list ranks the top 500 employers across 25 industries. Parkview Health ranked 171st.

The hospital also ranked 16th in the “healthcare and social services” industry, which capped at 25 organizations. Parkview Health was the only organization in Indiana to be named in this category.

Leatherman Body Shop Expands Services

ALBION — Leatherman Body Shop Inc. went far and wide to get bigger.

The longtime Albion-based business took delivery of the newest addition to its fleet of vehicles last week, an NRC flatbed hauler with a 22 1/2-foot bed. The new hauler has a 10-ton capacity.

The flatbed haulers are a necessity with many vehicles being all-wheeled drive.

Census Reveals Local Impact from Agriculture

The 2017 Census of Agriculture, released this week, includes county-by-county statistics that reveal the impact of farming in northeast Indiana.

The region’s five counties had 5,068 farms in 2017, with a total of 230 larger than 1,000 acres.

Those farms sold agriculture products worth more than $712 million from DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, Steuben and Whitley counties.
